I recently got a sudden and urgent hankering to try out some new Procreate brushes, and took the opportunity to do some loose gestural/pose reference sketches of an assortment of OCs!

These and the following were all done with LaneDraws’ Charcoal Master Pack! I think a combination of the Shimmerdust, Loomis and Orbik pencils.

I’ve tried some other charcoalesque sketchers before, but these scratch a particular itch. I generally prefer a round/non-tilted pencil that is easy to detail with, which these do. Andbut!! - when you tilt/barrel roll them with the side of the apple pencil they’ve got such a nice broad feathery shader action goin’ on.

These drawings were also an exercise in faster, looser sketches with little to no underdrawing (or rather, turning the underdrawing into the drawing, as opposed to lining on top). I can be really slow/perfectionist sometimes, something I want to improve at. These were so fun and accomplished that well, I think!
